The Groundwater Webtool simplifies the monitoring of concentrations of heavy metals in groundwater in the Campine region (northeast Belgium), both spatially and temporally. The data in the tool are collected by the Public Waste Agency of Flanders (OVAM) and the Flemish Environment Agency (VMM).
Multiple presentation options
The webtool makes all relevant data accessible and easy to consult. The concentration measurements can be presented via the application in various processed forms:
- Summary maps
- Time series of concentrations over time
- Trend graphs: the evolution of concentrations of heavy metals in a specific area (improvement, status quo, or deterioration)
Water Framework Directive
The Campine Groundwater Webtool can also be used to display the status assessment of water bodies according to the Water Framework Directive (WFD) for a selected period. This makes it a practical tool for trend follow-ups and for use in consultations with, among others, the Flemish Environment Agency (VMM).
